Writing Task 1:Let’s Get Creative

Instruction: Read the story below. The story is entitled Rumpelstiltskin by Angela Lanyon. As you read, you notice that this story is hanging in other word there is no ending to it. So, for your task this week, you are required to write your own version for the ending of this story. Try to be creative by including some pictures in your essay. Start your essay with “She had forgotten all about her promise to the little man, until one day he suddenly appeared in her room, ……….”

The story is about how a young and innocent girl; who becomes trapped in a tricky situation due to her parent’s foolishness. Because of their desire to see Lisa to get married to King, Lisa’s parents made some rash promises that she can actually spin straw into gold. The King was very greedy and he loves money and gold. So he said, “How fascinating! If your daughter is as cleaver as you say, bring her to the place. If she cannot do it, I’ll chop her head off.”

When Lisa was brought to the palace, the king took her to a room that was full of straw, and gave her a spinning wheel. Lisa did not know what to do. She sat down in one corner and started to cry. All of a sudden, a strange little man climbed the wall of Lisa’s tower.The little man promised to spin the straw into gold if Lisa gave her pretty necklace and ring on the first two occasions. So, the little man took her ring and necklace and started work. He worked well into the night, happy in his work, until at the work was done and all the straw was spun into gold.

On the third night, Lisa had nothing to offer the little man. However, the little man was willing to help her to spin the straw into gold if she promised to give him her first-born child. In desperation, Lisa readily promised him.

The King was pleased with all the gold Lisa spun for him. So, he decided to marry Lisa.Lisa became the queen. A year passes, Lisa had her first child, and they were both very happy. She had forgotten all about her promise to the little man, until one day he suddenly appeared in her room, ……………………
